On Duty Firefighter Charged with DUI

An on-duty San Francisco firefighter was charged with DUI causing serious injury, operating a commercial vehicle while his blood alcohol content was greater than 0.04 mg/dl, and simple DUI.  While the details of the case are part of a grand jury investigation and thus not publicly available, they are certainly distressing.

As a former firefighter and paramedic, I can assure you that any fire department with whom I've ever been associated has a zero tolerance policy regarding drinking on duty.  The firefighter in question has resigned his position with the San Francisco Fire Department after a 23 year career.

Remember, this gentleman is presumed innocent.
