People are using their smart phones for more and more creative things every day. One of the more inovative ideas is to use a smart phone to determine whether you are safe to drive after a night of drinking. The question is...how accurate are they? This story
tests three smart phone apps to determine if they accurately assess a driver's blood alcohol level and hopefully prevent a DUI charge.
Interestingly, some of the apps are close to as accurate as the devices that DUI officers use when deciding to arrest folks on the scene. However, even the law enforcement devices are not scientifically accurate enough to present to a jury in a Colorado DUI trial. They can only be used to establish probable cause to arrest.
