Name dropping will not get you out of a DUI

Especially when the name you drop is your own.  J.T. Barrett, quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, was arrested last week on suspicion of driving under the influence.  When the DUI officer informed Mr. Barrett that he was under arrest, Barrett attempted to talk his way out of the arrest because he was a well-known sports figure.  The arresting officer informed him that he would be treated like any other DUI suspect.  Rather than being taken to jail, Barrett would be issued a summons and taken to detox.

Many Denver sports figures have had their brushes with the law and many in the public have felt that they have been given preferential treatment.  While these Denver players have had the benefit of excellent attorneys, I cannot otherwise say that the justice system has treated them any differently than other criminal suspects.
