I have often said that the best way of avoiding not only the danger of a Colorado DUI conviction but also placing yourself in danger is to ensure that you have a sober driver. Many people will designate a person in their party to serve this role. Others will have the number of a local taxi in their cell phone contacts. Others still will use a ride sharing app such as Uber to get home safely. That's what one woman did this New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, she got the wrong driver
When she got in the car, she felt uncomfortable about the speed that the Uber driver was driving on city streets...allegedly as fast as 80mph. Shortly after expressing her concern, the driver struck another car causing it to turn over. Police arrived and administerd sobriety tests and a portable breath test to the Uber driver and then arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence. Of course, the Uber driver is innocent until proven guilty.
If you have been accused of driving under the influence in Denver, please consult with a DUI defense attorney.
