The Heat is On!

Denver Police crack down on DUI

By John Buckley - May 27, 2016

The Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff of the summer and the beginning of a campaign to combat drunk driving in Denver and throughout Colorado.  Denver DUI enforcement officers as well as Colorado State Patrol and officers from counties and cities all over the front range will be out in force starting tonight and over the holiday weekend.  They will be staging sobriety checkpoints throughout Denver and conducting saturation patrols where additional officers will patrol areas historically known to have high numbers of DUI arrests.  Most departments do not announce locations of DUI checkpoints – only that they will be having them on certain dates.  However, the Lakewood Police have announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint at the intersection of South Wadsworth Blvd and West Mansfield Ave. tonight.  All told, an additional 162 DUI officers will be patrolling the Denver metro area.

Over the past ten years, the Memorial Day weekend has resulted in the highest number of DUI-related fatalities.  If you are out this weekend and celebrating the freedoms that thousands of our brave men and women in the armed forces fought and died to protect, please celebrate responsibly…please avoid the need to call a Denver DUI attorney on Tuesday!
